Luis Rubiales is in hot waters following his unsolicited kiss on Spain's Jenni Hermoso lips after the team's victory in the FIFA Women's World Cup final.
Hermoso has said that "exemplary measures" should be taken against Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) President, the FUTPRO union said on Wednesday
The incident occurred while Rubiales was presenting the players with their gold medals after they beat England 1-0 on Sunday. It sparked outrage all over the world and many people, including government ministers, demanded that he should step down from his role.
"My union FUTPRO, in coordination with my agency TMJ, are taking care of defending my interests and have taken over as my interlocutors on this matter," Hermoso said in a joint statement released by the union and her agency.
"We are working to ensure that acts such as those we have seen never go unpunished, that they are sanctioned and that the exemplary measures are adopted to protect women footballers from actions that we believe are unacceptable."
Yesterday, Rubalies had come under more pressure after new photos of him lifting Athenea del Castillo on his shoulders during Spain's World Cup celebrations also emerged.
In order to ensure that the actions of Rubiales are "duly sanctioned", FUTPRO will meet next Monday with Spain's second deputy leader Yolanda Diaz.
Spain's women's football league, Liga F, called for Rubiales to be sacked and said it had lodged a complaint with the president of the National Sports Council (CSD) over his "very serious actions and behaviour".
"For a boss to grab his employee by the head and kiss her on the mouth simply cannot be tolerated," it said. "The subsequent justifications are, as the prime minister described it, 'inadequate'."
Rubiales, who initially termed his critics "idiots", issued a video apology late on Monday.
It must be noted that this was not the first time Rubiales did something that was way out of line as he is said to have harassed and humiliated his female colleague in the past.
